The event included tours of the research facility along with presentations and networking opportunities with women engineers and scientists, in keeping with GIT's goals of inspiring girls in grades 6-12 in STEM and identifying pathways to careers in STEM, like those at Carderock.

For the Showcase Boys & Girls we host over 100 college coaches each year offering players a tremendous scouting opportunity.Middle and high school students with the Washington, D.C, Girls in Technology (GIT) program met with their professional counterparts in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) to learn about opportunities at Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division, March 29. Regular attendees are state, regional, & national champions/finalists as well as ODP teams, & international teams. We host the most diverse competition of any tournament in our city and some of the countries best teams and regularly come to compete. U9-14 Boys, U9-14 Girls, Showcase Boys, Showcase Girls are the different weekends and we currently use Memphis' 17 field premier facility that is Mike Rose Soccer Complex in Memphis, TN to play the weekends. Memphis Futbol Club's Germantown Invitational Tournament (GIT) invites you to one of the region's premier events! Since the GIT's inception in 1979 it has grown to a 500+ team tournament that now is spread across 4 weekends just to handle the number of teams.
